The cyclone will hit the east coast of Madagascar on Tuesday. About 2.2 million people could be affected by storm surges and flooding. The storm is a Category 4 hurricane, with winds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour.
The cyclone, which is one of the strongest ever to hit the southern hemisphere, will hit the African country of Mozambique later in the week.
