Kiev underestimated? – Moscow is concerned about explosions in Mariupol

Date:

Moscow is concerned: in the Russian-occupied Ukrainian city of Mariupol, explosions are repeatedly taking place in places used by the army. Putin may not have expected the Ukrainian army to be able to hit targets in the city, which is 50 miles behind the front line.

The Defense Ministry’s daily intelligence update on Monday shows that there have been 14 explosions in Mariupol alone since early February. Among other things, an ammunition depot, two fuel depots and a steel factory used by the army were hit.

Despite extensive destruction, Mariupol is therefore important to Russia – because it is the largest city captured since the beginning of the war that is still in Russian hands. It is also on an important supply route.

Information from the British intelligence service provides guidance
The British Ministry of Defense has published daily updates on the course of the war since the start of Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine, citing intelligence information. With this, the British government wants to both counter the Russian image and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a targeted disinformation campaign.

Deadly Russian drone strike
At least one person was killed and four others injured in a Russian drone strike in western Ukraine on Monday, according to Ukrainian sources. As the mayor of Khmelnytskyi Oleksandr Symchyshyn told the Telegram online service, buildings in the city have been damaged. The dead man belonged to the rescuers.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia had attacked Ukraine overnight with up to 14 drones, eleven of which were shot down by Ukrainian air defenses.
