In Upper Austria, the number of approach and entry bans will increase sharply in 2022. This ban was issued to protect 2429 victims, in 2021 there were 2135, a year earlier in 2024, the Upper Austria Center for Violence Protection said. According to general manager Eva Schuh, 80 percent of the clients that are cared for are women. A constant exchange between authorities and organizations is important for the prevention of (domestic) violence,

Security Police case conferences have proven to be a good resource for high-risk cases. These provide a “platform for all those involved to exchange and take a closer look at information,” Schuh said. Victim protection organisations, the advice center on violence prevention, the police and the authorities thus have the same level of knowledge. Last year it was in Upper Austria 31 such conferences because of high-risk cases of serious domestic violence or in the immediate social environment.
Attempted homicide
Last year, the Center for Protection against Violence took care of eight victims in a criminal trial for attempted murder in a family context. Half of them were women. Schuh could not provide any information about the sex of the suspects.
