Whether by public transport or by car, the Monday morning commute was more than difficult for many in Vienna. The reason is the many construction sites in the summer. Particularly the partial closure of the U4 and too long intervals on the replacement lines have already caused problems.
With the holidays, the annoying summer construction sites start again. Monday morning’s victims were the occupants of the U4. The end of the line was Schwedenplatz. The green line only runs between Schwedenplatz and Schottenring on July 31. The public transport drivers who traveled to Heiligenstadt had the choice between the alternative lines 1 and U2Z or on foot.
The “Krone” was also there. With intervals of 16 minutes, the decision is not difficult. According to Wiener Linien, a parking violation caused the morning delay on line 1 at around 08:35.
So the only way to get to work is on foot. Arriving sweaty at the Schottenring, the disillusionment: waiting seven minutes for the train to Heiligenstadt. All in all, the road to the editor took twice as long.
S45 closed during the summer
The beginning of the week was also cloudy for the passengers of the S 45, because the busy suburban line between Hernals and Heiligenstadt is closed all summer. But also by car this morning it was not faster in many places. Huge traffic jams formed on Franz-Josefs-Kai and the North Bridge. There was also an accident between Hirschstetten and Handelskai, which caused further delays.
Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of the summer construction sites…
