According to British estimates, Russia is now using another launch site for attack drones in the war in Ukraine. The latest attacks were likely launched from western Russia’s Bryansk region, it said on Wednesday. Previously, only one location in the southern Russian Krasnodar region was used.
“A second launch site would give the Russians another axis of attack, closer to Kiev,” the report, which is based on British intelligence, says. “This is likely to reduce airborne time over Ukraine and is an attempt to further expand Ukraine’s air defenses.”
Sunday’s latest attacks, which shot down 11 of 14 so-called kamikaze drones, were the first since mid-February, the ministry said, according to Ukrainian sources. The drop in pace with Iranian-made drones showed that Russia is running out of supplies.
Brits provide daily updates
The British Ministry of Defense has published daily updates on the course of the war since the start of Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine, citing intelligence information. With this, the British government wants to both counter the Russian image and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a disinformation campaign.
