A hiker found a cat at the foot of the Untersberg – emaciated, degenerated and with gunshot wounds. Who does something like that to an animal?
‘Salome’ has now somewhat survived the torment of the past few days. The black and white cat is paddling around again, is cuddly and happy for all the cuddles. “She is a true love,” says Anita Kranabitl-Stadlbauer. The head of the animal aid organization Bad Ischl took in the four-legged friend. A few days earlier, a friend of the woman had found the cat during a walk in Fürstenbrunn – in a very poor condition.
The animal was completely emaciated, weak and bleeding. There was a hole in his stomach and a pistol cartridge lodged in one leg. The hiker caught the kitten and took it to the animal rescue organization in neighboring Upper Austria. “We will take her to the vet immediately. “They found a lot of small stones and dirt in her stomach because the poor cat hasn’t had anything real to eat for so long,” says Kranabitl-Stadlbauer.
There is still no trace of the cat’s owner
Who owns the four-legged friend? And who put him through this torment? There are currently no answers to these questions. “The cat is not chipped. But she is so trusting, she is not a stray dog,” the head of Animal Aid is certain. In any case, there is no report of the cat going missing in Salzburg. “We checked that,” says Kranabitl-Stadlbauer. It is quite possible that the owner himself shot the defenseless cat.
In any case, the team from Tierhilfe Bad Ischl gave the four-legged friend the name “Salome”. “That suits her perfectly,” laughs Kranabitl-Stadlbauer.
