New house as absolute hell
The children found it hell in their new home: Donald Lantz (63) and Jeanne Whitefeather (62) allegedly treated the children like slaves, according to the responsible judge.
Security camera installed
After a tip from a neighbor, youth care employees contacted the police. They discovered the two eldest children, a 16-year-old daughter and a 14-year-old son, locked in a shed – without electricity, without water, instead a surveillance camera had been installed in the corner.
Locked up for up to 12 hours
The neglected children said they were forced by their adoptive parents to work in the estate’s fields with their younger siblings. They were often locked up for up to twelve hours and were not given anything to eat until early in the morning. The children were transferred to the care of the Child and Youth Welfare Office. Lantz and Whitefeather face long prison sentences.
