A serious industrial accident occurred at a company in the municipality of Brückl in Carinthia on Wednesday. During work on the line, a valve of a hydrochloric acid container suddenly opened and the corrosive liquid hit a 20-year-old worker in the face.
“The woman from the St. Veit neighborhood worked with her foreman on a new acid container. During this activity, for unknown reasons, a ball valve opened, after which hydrochloric acid escaped and splashed in the face of the worker, the police said.
Hospitalized with burns
The young woman suffered severe chemical burns. After the colleagues present provided first aid, the rescue team took her to the clinic in Klagenfurt.
