In 2022, 624 women and 640 children found shelter and protection in the (since December 2022) five women’s shelters in Vienna. An AMS project aims to restore independence to women who are victims of violence. Under the motto: “Perspective: empowering women affected by violence”, the living conditions of the women must be improved – and the Vienna Women’s Shelters Association and the AMS help them to return to work – and thus find their way back to independence.
The cooperation with men’s guidance is also being strengthened. Women whose (former) partner follows an anti-violence program are supported and advised. In the current budget, EUR 11 million has been earmarked for counter-violence measures.
