Dead boy in Tyrol – “For Leon’s father, the accusation is completely absurd”

Date:

“My client is shocked! He still firmly rejects the allegation, which is completely absurd,” emphasized lawyer Hubert Stanglechner shortly after his client was taken into custody. The 38-year-old is said to have faked a robbery in St. Johann in Tirol last year and is responsible for the death of his son Leon (6).

It was unimaginable for him to do such a thing and he was shocked. “In my opinion, there are no grounds for detention,” said the lawyer. As reported, the police judge had a different view on Thursday morning. “The regional court has imposed pre-trial detention on the 38-year-old father of the six-year-old boy, who drowned in the Kitzbüheler Ache at the end of August, due to the risk of collusion and the risk of committing a crime due to the strong suspicion of the crime of murder and pretend the crime is a criminal offense,” Hansjörg Mayr, spokesman for the Innsbruck public prosecutor, explained in a broadcast.

‘My client would never influence witnesses’
“The presumed risk of collusion cannot be assumed because my client would never influence witnesses. If that came out later, it would affect his credibility,” says Stanglechner, “my client has also sworn not to speak to witnesses.” “For my client, that is just as absurd as the accusation that he killed his own child.”

Different clues
The father was apparently targeted by the detectives, especially since he himself carried the bottle, a commercially available frizzante bottle with which he was allegedly hit, in the pram. This was of course already recognizable on a video image. He also threw his mobile phone in a trash can. The injuries could not be reconciled with the crime either. In addition, the pedometer on the mobile phone did not stop in time and the man was only able to describe the alleged robber in more detail during the second interrogation. “All this is also incomprehensible,” said Stanglechner.

Would you like to appeal against this decision?
The father now remains in custody for 14 days. “Then the court will review whether the reasons for the arrest still exist,” emphasizes Mayr. In the meantime, the investigations are continuing and everything that could exonerate the man and present the suspicion differently will be further taken into account. “It has not yet been decided whether an appeal against this decision will be lodged with the Innsbruck Regional Court before this hearing,” explains lawyer Stanglechner.
