The series of serious skiing accidents in Tyrol continues unabated: rescue workers were also present all over the country on Saturday. There were plenty of serious injuries to complain about. A winter sports enthusiast even lost consciousness after a fall.
The first serious accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. in Brixen im Thale (Kitzbühel district). When a 23-year-old German wanted to cross the lower part of the Hohe Salve south descent, he collided with a compatriot (24). Both skiers suffered serious injuries from the force of the impact. After first aid on the spot, they were flown with an emergency helicopter to the St. Johann hospital.
Lost consciousness after collision
A short time later there was an accident in Steinach am Brenner (Innsbruck-Land district). Two skiers got in each other’s way on the Nösslachjoch piste near the “Hoher Turm” combi lift – with fatal consequences. One of those involved – a German (60) – lost consciousness after the fall. The holidaymaker – just like the second local person involved (56) – was taken by helicopter to the Innsbruck clinic with injuries.
Five-year-old boy collided with woman
At around 1 p.m., a five-year-old boy collided with a 55-year-old German in the Thurntal ski area in Sillian, East Tyrol. Both winter sports enthusiasts fell as a result of the collision, in which the woman was seriously injured. She received first aid from the piste rescue service, was taken down to the valley and then taken to Lienz hospital with the rescue service. The child was terrified.
Two serious accidents in the Ötztal
In Sölden, two serious accidents occurred within half an hour on Saturday afternoon. Around 3.15 pm an unknown skier rammed a Belgian (61). The woman fell and received serious injuries – the other winter athlete committed a collision.
At 3:45 p.m., a 70-year-old German on the Giggijoch missed a lined winch anchorage on the slope and crashed into it, resulting in serious injury. After first aid by the slope rescue service, the skier was flown by ambulance helicopter to Zams hospital.
