A German skier (69) was found on Sunday evening in Itter in Tyrol (Kitzbühel district) as part of a large-scale search by the mountain rescue team with 30 emergency services with hypothermia and injuries in rough terrain. He did not make the emergency call himself – it took many detours.
The 69-year-old was a member of a tour group to ski in Itter on Saturday. It was not until 8:30 p.m. that he informed his partner in Nuremberg and told her that he had fallen during the descent and was lost in impassable terrain as a result. He also stated that he was completely disoriented and weak.
Major search started
The partner then immediately contacted the tour group in Tyrol. This eventually set the rescue chain in motion. A major search was launched.
With rescue to the hospital
The injured German was finally found around midnight and rescued by the emergency services. “He was hypothermic and was taken by ambulance to the district hospital of Kufstein,” the police said.
