During the peak phase of the pandemic, there was a lot of cheating with test results and vaccination certificates: now the Innsbruck detectives were able to uncover a particularly egregious case. A couple is said to have sold corona vaccination certificates on a large scale for a maximum of 1000 euros. A medical assistant would have used her job and access to the electronic patient file (ELGA). Her alleged accomplice was recruiting clients.
The duo would have been making a lot of money for months from the illegal activities in 2021. “The 28-year-old suspect was employed by a doctor in Innsbruck during this period and illegally used the doctor’s ELGA access to take the notes.
Accomplice responsible for “Marketing”
Her alleged accomplice – a 45-year-old resident – was in charge of “marketing”. “He advertised this opportunity and had the data entered,” the researchers continued.
Customers paid a lot for the certificate
The customer’s interest was apparently more than given. In a total of 232 cases, improper entry of Covid vaccinations that had not been carried out were alleged to have taken place in the electronic medical record. Customers also paid a lot for it. “According to current knowledge, people paid an amount between 500 and 1000 euros for the entry.”
Both the two suspects and the 232 customers have been reported to the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office.
