Difficult situation? -Moscow: Bad air in Wagner troops and government

Date:

Tensions between the Russian government and the notorious mercenary group Wagner are on the rise. Against this background, the British secret service assumes that the situation in the war in Ukraine is difficult.

The conflicts, some of which were held in public, highlighted the complexity of maintaining sufficient personnel and ammunition in the current Russian offensive, the British Defense Ministry said in its daily briefing on Tuesday.

Wagner boss demands more ammunition
The head of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, had repeatedly criticized the Russian military leadership. According to Prigozhin, the Wagner fighters blocked the city of Bakhmut, which had been the subject of fierce fighting for months. Now the Ukrainian soldiers tried to surround the Russian units and break through the blockade.

“Ukrainian forces will fight to the end for Artemovsk (Russian name for Bakhmut), that is clear. We also have to do our job to the end,” said Prigozhin. He again demanded more ammunition from the Russian military leadership.

The supply situation is deteriorating
The fact that Ukraine continues to defend Bakhmut weakens the forces on both sides, the British said. The Ukrainians are said to have been able to stabilize their defense line over the weekend after Russian troops previously pushed into the north of the city. Supply, on the other hand, is becoming increasingly difficult as major access roads have been destroyed and Ukrainians are increasingly having to resort to muddy, unpaved roads for supplies.

Russia wants to storm Bakhmut – regardless of the losses
Ukrainian forces have repelled more than 140 Russian attacks on the front in the east of the country in recent days, according to their own statements. Despite heavy losses, the enemy is still trying to storm Bakhmut and the surrounding area, the Ukrainian army announced on Tuesday. Russian forces attempted to outflank the Ukrainian defenders and launched 37 attacks near the village of Dubovo-Vasiivka, northwest of Bakhmut.

Ukraine grateful for extensive help
Foreign aid will allow Ukraine to “repair a large number of energy infrastructure objects hit by Russian missiles, drones and artillery,” said German Energy Minister Galushchenko. Since the start of the war, international partners have received 450 deliveries of energy systems with a total weight of 5,650 tons as humanitarian aid.

These include 1,700 power generators, about 1,000 transformers, mobile gas boilers, special equipment, high voltage equipment for repairing power lines and a mobile cable laboratory. In total, Ukraine received aid from 30 countries. Austria also supplied generators.
