Scare moment for a Bosnian: According to the decision of the asylum office, the 26-year-old must leave the country immediately and he is no longer allowed to enter the country. Only through a traffic check did he find out that he had been accused of a number of forged documents. But the whole thing had a catch: Was the office untidy?
Out of the blue, a 26-year-old Bosnian received the news from the Immigration and Asylum Office: he had to leave Austria immediately and forever.
The content of the decision was even more shocking. He is said to have registered a residence in Austria under a false Slovenian identity since 2019, worked illegally, even obtained a new Bosnian passport to disguise himself and got married. Due to forgery of specially secured documents, there was a three-month suspended prison sentence in 2021, for the wife two months. She was on the list of accomplices.
Investigations by a lawyer lead to clarification
The strange thing about the whole story: the young man is not even married. Not even divorced. He had also never heard of the allegations against him. Lawyer Herbert Eichenseder dug deeper and found something surprising: his client has a valid Bosnian passport and driver’s license, is registered in Austria and has been working for a construction company here for years – with a permit from the AMS.
That was enough for a juicy letter to the Federal Bureau. “Using the documents we collected, we then wrote a rather rude complaint, which after 14 days produced not only a pleasant, but also a surprising result,” says Eichenseder. All sanctions against the 26-year-old were immediately lifted. Still waiting for an explanation and an apology…
