He thought he only needed to talk to men and responded to criticism by pulling a knife from his belt buckle. An 18-year-old student therefore arranged a police operation in Vienna-Ottakring on Wednesday afternoon. The end: preliminary arrest, charges and a provisional ban on weapons.
The stumbling block: the apprentice had left the shop on Ottakringer Strasse that day (International Women’s Day, detail in the margin) without consulting his colleague and without his permission, and was not seen again for hours. What followed was an argument between the two.
Freund came especially from Salzburg
“Because he thought he only needed to talk to men, the woman called her boyfriend, who came from Salzburg after closing time to confront the 18-year-old,” said police spokesman Philipp Hasslinger.
Knife in belt buckle
That’s what happened: In front of her boyfriend, the woman confronted the 18-year-old again around 5 p.m. Apparently, the suspect did not have much to say, because the Serb is said to have suddenly pulled out a hidden knife integrated into his belt buckle. He then brutally threatened the couple before going back to the store.
The police were quickly on the scene, the 18-year-old was temporarily arrested and belts and knives were secured. As a result, he was reported several times and placed under a provisional gun ban.
