A 60-year-old man deceived a car dealership in South Styria quite badly: after a dispute when signing the contract, the Austrian, who lives abroad, left for France with an expensive car. The 60-year-old was arrested there and is now detained for embezzlement.
A dubious car deal ended up in custody for a 60-year-old. In October 2022, the man approached a car dealership in Leibnitz. He expressed interest in an expensive car and stated that he needed it to start a business. According to the police, there were already disagreements between the dealer and the prospective buyer when the contract was signed. These have been adjusted accordingly.
The French authorities have secured the car
It has been agreed that the prospective buyer may use the car in the Leibnitz area until the end of October 2022 and a maximum mileage. However, the 60-year-old Austrian, who lives abroad, did not stick to the signed contract and left for France shortly afterwards in a German-made car. There, the French authorities secured the embezzled car. A transfer back to Austria followed.
The public prosecutor of Vienna ordered the arrest of the fugitive suspect. At the end of February, the 60-year-old was arrested in Leibnitz and is now in Vienna’s Josefstadt prison.
