New tariff offer – EVN is terminating the contracts of approximately 300,000 customers

Date:

To avoid a further upward revision on April 1, 2023, the Niederösterreich EVN will terminate the Optima Classic contracts for nearly 300,000 electricity and gas customers in the coming weeks. There is already a new offer, but customers must actively agree to the new contract.

The reason for this decision is the Austrian price indices for electricity and gas (ÖSPI & ÖGPI), which adjust the rates up or down twice a year, depending on the development of the applicable general supply conditions. “These adjustment mechanisms are difficult given the current turmoil in the energy markets, which is why we now want to renew our cooperation with our customers,” says EVN spokesperson Stefan Zach.

To ensure that there are no further upward revisions as of April 1, 2023, EVN will terminate Optima Classic contracts for nearly 300,000 electricity and gas customers in the coming weeks. Tariffs will be discontinued on June 30, 2023. Affected customers will be recommended a new offer, but must be actively approved. You will be contacted by registered letter about the changes.

“Keep prices stable in the coming winter”
The new rate called “Optima Garant Natur 12” is a fixed price offer for one year where customers benefit from price stability. Compared to the decreasing Optima Classic rate, the annual base price of the Optima Garant Natur 12 is slightly higher, while the work price is slightly cheaper. Practically nothing will change for customers with an annual consumption of approximately 3,500 kilowatt hours of electricity and 15,000 kilowatt hours of gas. “With this new offering, we will be able to keep prices stable through the coming winter. This will provide certainty for both our customers and us as a company in these uncertain times,” said Zach.

The first letters should reach customers by mid-March and will be sent in installments. EVN expects an increasing number of inquiries and wants to process individual customer conversions quickly and respond quickly to calls, emails or visits.

EVN tours all districts
So that all customers from all over Lower Austria really get wind of the cancellation and the new offer, EVN is touring the individual municipalities. “Especially the elderly, but also people with a language barrier, often prefer personal contact to the online offer,” says Zach. “We are happy to help you fill in the online forms.”
