Glyphosate alarm – chickpeas made from doses unhealthy than from the glass

Date:

Chickpeas are only recommended from the glass. This resulted in a test of the Association for Consumer Information (VKI) with 25 products in tins, glasses and tetrapaks. All canned products achieved an average result.

Dosen products with chickpeas were admitted bisphenol a (BPA), which, according to studies, has a hormone -like effect and is associated with a higher risk of breast cancer, obesity and neurological damage. The EU has therefore banned BPA at the beginning of the year in food contact materials. A tolerated migration value is still permitted on July 20, 2028.

The products of Clever, King’s Crown and Kitchin also contain the pesticide lyphosate. A lot of nickel was found in Tetrapaks. Glyphosate was generally not detectable in organic products, the VKI reported Thursday. The heavy metal nickel comes from the floor in plants and fruit. Special caution is required for children, according to consumer protection officers. There were always good concentrations in Billa’s products, Kitchin and Cirio.

The VKI advises chickpeas of the glass that cuts best. Five of the six organic products tested in the glass contain the evaluation “very good”. “Certain own brands also offer relatively cheap alternatives here,” said nutritionist Birgit Beck. Chickpeas were examined by discounters, drugstores, health food stores and supermarkets. The most important focus was on pollutants such as heavy metals and pesticides. The composition of the products and the origin were also considered.

Chickpeas are a popular protein and fiber source, and they also contain folic acid, iron and zinc.
