A 45-year-old worker from Germany was with two colleagues at a construction site in Hochburg-Ach to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of a house. Then, while the worker was cutting metal profiles for the plant’s fixtures, his left hand got under the circular saw.

The consequences were devastating: his hand was completely severed. After urgent medical first aid, the seriously injured 45-year-old had to be flown by the German rescue helicopter “Christoph 14” to the accident hospital in Salzburg, where surgeons tried to sew his hand back on.
