Spectacle in Graz – powerhouse pulls 80 ton diesel locomotive

Date:

Muscle man Franz Müllner has already set 50 records. Now he is once again planning spectacular campaigns from Peru via Africa to Antarctica. To warm up, he pulled an 80-ton locomotive in Graz.

Big station on Thursday for Franz Müllner in Graz. Dozens of journalists and GKB employees awaited the athlete at the Graz-Köflach railway workshop in Eggenberg. His plan: pull an 80-ton diesel locomotive.

“Of course I’m nervous,” said the man known as “The Austrian Rock” moments before the attempt, “but you also need this tension”.

Locomotive pulled 20 meters long
After a few seconds of concentration and clapping your hands three times, it all started: with a wild scream, the 130-kilo piece actually set the locomotive in motion.

In the end, the track was 20 meters long. Incomprehensible! “It was brutal,” Müllner admitted, “really bad. The pressure on my face was the worst.” His conclusion? “Of course I’m relieved that I made it. It was a cool story.”

Record on the highest train route in the world
The 53-year-old already has 50 records to his name, trucks, tanks or planes – nothing is safe from the extreme athlete. But now the greatest highlight of his career awaits – the motto is “Seven continents – seven world records”.

The start for Müllner, who grew up in Predlitz-Turrach in Styria, is in South America. The Kraftlackl, always supported by the Styrian safety expert Markus Schimpl, wants to pull a 100-ton locomotive of the Inca Rail, one of the highest train routes in the world, near Machu Picchu – at an altitude of more than 3000 meters.

The grand tour also leads to San Diego (USA), Tokyo (Japan) or Africa (Cape of Good Hope), among others. But the highlight will be in Antarctica. “There I draw an iceberg the size of a hotel.” All the best for that!
