A 59-year-old police officer from Voitsberg was arrested on Friday. The Styrian official is said to have caused tens of thousands of euros in damage through fraud and theft.
The 59-year-old would have borrowed money from others for years, but never paid it back. Even worse: the police officer is suspected of stealing from a gas station last year. The loot included the company’s daily income. In addition, there is “disciplinary misconduct”, the national police reported.
Apparently, lack of money was the reason for his actions. The man was suspended by state police in December and the criminal investigation is still ongoing.
The suspect partially confessed
The 59-year-old was arrested on Friday because the suspicion was sufficiently substantiated. The police officer has partially confessed that he is now in custody in Graz-Jakomini Prison.
