In the parking lot – woman raped: Seven years in prison for Tyroleans

Date:

Every woman’s nightmare came true in November last year for a 27-year-old in Schwaz in Tyrol. She is said to have been brutally hit, beaten and then raped by a drunk man (25) in a parking lot. In court, however, the suspect could not or would not remember anything.

The brutal attack took place in the early hours of mid-November last year. The young woman is said to have been abused by the initially unknown person in a bar in Schwaz. When the woman finally wanted to go home around 5 a.m., she was followed by the man. In a parking lot near the restaurant, the perpetrator allegedly assaulted and raped her.

Woman desperately screamed for help
“The victim was fighting and screaming desperately for help,” police said at the time. Passers-by immediately rushed at them, after which the sex offender fled. The 27-year-old was injured and taken to hospital.

A search for the perpetrator initially turned up nothing. After extensive investigation, the police then succeeded in designating the 25-year-old local resident as a suspect. On Monday, the trial against the Tyrolean took place in the regional court of Innsbruck, closed to the public. In court, the 25-year-old could not or would not remember anything.

The jury panel ultimately sentenced him to seven years in prison with a sentence ranging from five to 15 years. In addition, the man must pay 6,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering – half of which he had already transferred before the hearing – and any late consequences. The verdict is already final.
