Bizkaia driving schools agree on 36% pay increase and end strike

The sector renews the agreement after 12 years and guarantees a minimum wage of 1,200 euros for the categories with the most precarious salaries.

The trade unions ELA and CC. OO. have signed preliminary agreement with employer in the sector of Biscay driving schools which includes a pay increase of more than 36% spread over four years and renews the contract after 12 years without doing so.

The pact came into being after 40 days of strikes and was ratified this Tuesday in the workers’ meeting.

The person in charge of ELA, Leire González, has explained that the pre-contract provides for a guaranteed salary increase of 36% during the four-year validity of the agreement: 14% for the past 2021, 6.4% for 2022, on the tables of 2021, 8% for 2023 and 4% for 2024.

Other contents have been agreed upon which will improve the conditions of the whole group of workers, especially those of the most precarious.

For example, the lowest category, that of student, will disappear, the working day will be improved for feminised and precarious groups and the weekly working day for non-teachers has been reduced from 40 to 38 hours.

It is established that the weekly working day is from Monday to Friday and with a roster until 8 p.m. and not until 9 p.m. In addition, employees who have to take leave for work or general reasons during the first five months receive a salary of 100%.

On the other hand, for the holiday period, a minimum of 23 working days is agreed and the right to receive the monthly average of the bonuses received in the previous twelve months.

From ELA, they ensure that with the salary increase, in addition to realizing regularization in all categories, a minimum salary of 1,200 euros is guaranteed for the categories with the most precarious salaries.
