On Tuesday afternoon there was such a devastating fire in a warehouse in the Lower Austrian municipality of Bergland (Melk district). More than 100 firefighters were called into action to bring the fire under control.
The highest alarm level “B4” was activated. A large contingent of firefighters has been deployed to the agricultural plot. The fire was not brought under control until late afternoon, according to the fire service. Firefighting efforts are expected to last into the evening.
No injuries
According to initial reports, no one was injured. The fire broke out for unknown reasons. The smoke could be seen for miles. The emergency services were able to shield and cool a 3,000 liter diesel tank in the machine hall from the fire, the ORF Lower Austria reports.
The flames were also prevented from spreading to the house, a fertilizer store and adjacent stables.
