The film academy condemns Will Smith Silas and examines possible legal action

Following the beating of comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars after the beating of American actor Will Smith, the academy issued a statement Monday condemning Silas and announcing that a “formal investigation has been launched” to look into future action under California law.

The comedian jokingly joked about the physical condition of actor and partner Jade Pinkett, who suffers from alopecia. After the joke, Will Smith approached the stage and knocked, returned to his seat, and from there shouted to the presenter, “Take my wife’s name out of your mouth.”

“The academy condemns Mr. Smith’s actions in last night ‘s show. “We have formally begun a formal review of the incident and will investigate further actions and consequences in accordance with our statutes, standards of conduct and California law,” the film academy said in a statement, which has so far been limited to Twitter. The gala was marked by a tense moment involving Smith, who apologized in his speech when collecting a gold statue for a role played by King Richard (Williams’s method in Spain). “Love drives you crazy,” he said in his request, which was followed by various criticisms. “I know that in this profession we should be able to insult, tolerate people who treat us with disrespect, smile and act as if nothing is happening,” continued the Oscar winner for Best Actor.

According to specialized media such as Hollywood ReporterWhile it is unknown exactly what action the Academy will take, Will Smith membership may be suspended. By this time some members of the agency’s board had discussed the matter over the phone.

The actor’s reaction to Chris Rock’s comments on social media has been biased all day, though the comedian’s mockery of Jada Pinkett’s appearance has also been the subject of much criticism.
