Police have warned citizens about drugged beer in New Zealand following the death of a young man in New Zealand.
A large quantity of “Honey Bear House Beer” had previously been seized from an industrial estate in Manukau near Auckland, investigators said Thursday. Liquid methamphetamine was hidden in part of the delivery. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
While most of the shipment was seized, some cans may have been in circulation, Police Commissioner Glenn Baldwin said. Some may contain methamphetamine. Police continue to advise anyone who encounters or is offered “Honey Bear House Beer” not to “consume the contents.”
A 21-year-old died in early March after drinking a beer after work. Whether it was a can from the seized cargo is still under investigation.
