A German (74) is said to have wrongly received pension benefits and social assistance for years. The man was registered in the city of Salzburg until 2022. From 2011 to 2014, he received social support, after which he received an EEA compensation benefit until March 2023, which he was entitled to due to his pension rights in Germany. The accusation: When he submitted the applications, he provided false information about his financial situation. He also hid assets and rental income that he regularly had.
When he was criminally investigated in another case in 2021, he stated that he had assets of 15 million euros. As a result of the social assistance fraud, the social services of the city of Salzburg suffered damages of 34,000 euros and the pension insurer wrongly paid out 50,000 euros. It is not known where the man currently resides. A report was filed with the Salzburg Public Prosecutor’s Office for serious fraud.
