The suspect was again in court and apparently has a real problem with his alcohol addiction. But that’s no excuse to brutally kill a kitten. The judge in Steyr sends the 18-year-old to prison.
How can you do such a thing? Slit the throat of a 13-week-old baby kitten, then play the innocent in front of the police. Because an 18-year-old from Steyr, when questioned by management, claimed to have found the kitten killed in October of the previous year. He couldn’t explain how the blade of the hunting knife had cut the throat. On Thursday, the 18-year-old was in court in Steyr for animal abuse and dangerous threats.
Suffers from a huge drug problem
Not the first time, because there was also a suspended sentence from a previous conviction. Forensic psychiatrist Adelheid Kastner made an expert opinion on the perpetrator, who has a huge alcohol problem despite his young age. The judge’s verdict: six months “sharp” for the cat murder, one month revoked of the old sentence – that’s a total of seven months in prison – and sentencing to an institution for lawbreakers to be weaned. However, this is only possible for alcoholics, not drug addicts.
The 18-year-old took the sentence – up to two years would immediately stand for animal cruelty, the prosecutor has not yet issued a statement. The verdict is not yet final. If the public prosecutor appeals, in that case there can only be a confirmation of the verdict or an upward adjustment.
