Russia has again received new drones from Iran for use against Ukraine, according to British intelligence. After a two-week hiatus, Russia has deployed at least 71 Iranian Shahed-type kamikaze drones against Ukrainian targets since March, the defense ministry said in London on Sunday.
This indicates that Russia is now regularly receiving shipments of “a small number” of Shahed drones from Iran. There are probably two launch sites for the unmanned missiles: from Russia’s Bryansk region in northeastern Ukraine and from the Krasnodar region in the east. “This will allow Russia to attack large parts of Ukraine and reduce flight time to targets in northern Ukraine,” the British ministry said.
The Ministry of Defense in London has been publishing daily updates on the course of the war since the start of Russia’s offensive war against Ukraine in February 2022, citing intelligence information. With this, the British government wants to both counter the Russian image and keep allies in line. Moscow accuses London of a disinformation campaign.
