Felt house in Kundl – surprise find in suspected fire devil

Date:

In the house of the alleged serial arsonist from Kundl in Tyrol, the police found a whole collection of stolen items. The rightful owners are now being sought. The alleged fire devil also turns out to be a serial thief.

After three mysterious arson attacks and the arrest of a suspect (56), peace has apparently returned to Kundl. The nights when the firefighters there were awakened from their sleep at least once a week seem to be over.

But while the alleged fire devil is still in custody, there is excitement in the Unterland community over the 56-year-old. Because during a search of the man’s property, the police found masses of stolen motorcycle helmets, bicycles, drills and other tools.

Victims recognized stolen goods
“Many items could not be assigned to an owner. The thefts may have been a few years ago,” says the police, who are now looking for the rightful owners of the items via Facebook, among other things. “Several people have already reported,” explains an official from Kundl of the “Krone”. For example, a young man who recognized his cross helmet and those of his friends, who would have been lost about three years ago.

Loot items currently secured
The much missed items may not be picked up yet. “The possibly stolen goods were first secured. It is now evidence,” the detective emphasizes. The public prosecutor’s office and the court then decide when the items can be returned. However, those who are stolen must prove to the police, for example with an old invoice or a photo, that the steam cleaner, hose reel or other device was actually stolen from them.

It is currently uncertain whether and when the suspected arsonist, who would be responsible for the destruction of the carnival car used by the local rural youth on February 15, will have to answer to court. The suspect has so far vehemently denied having anything to do with the fires. The presumption of innocence applies to him.

Larger amount of fuel oil stored
By the way: even before the stolen goods were discovered, large quantities of fuel oil and other unspecified liquids were found during an inspection of the 56-year-old’s home. It should be clarified whether this poses a risk and whether removal is necessary.
