Spectacular accident early Monday evening in Elmen in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol: a Pole (29) lost control of his car on Lechtalstraße, ended up on the oncoming carriageway and crashed into the cars of two local residents. While the car of the perpetrator then crashed into a tree, the vehicle of a 38-year-old overturned and came to rest lying on its roof in the adjacent meadow.
The serious accident happened around 6:15 p.m. The 29-year-old Pole was driving his car on the B198 towards Reutte when, for unknown reasons, he suddenly entered the opposite lane at Elmen and hit two oncoming traffic.
Rollover and crash into tree
As a result, the Polish driver lost control of his car, after which it went over the side of the road and crashed into a tree with full force. But that’s not all: one of the oncoming drivers – a 38-year-old resident – also went off the road. His car overturned in the adjacent field, eventually landing on its roof.
Two injured people taken to hospital
“The Pole and the Austrian suffered injuries in the accident,” police said. The latter had to be flown to the district hospital of Reutte with the RK-2 emergency medical helicopter after an initial treatment on site. The 29-year-old Pole was brought there with the rescue.
Extensive damage was caused to all three vehicles involved. During the operation, Lechtalstraße was only passable over one lane.
