A man (60) stabbed his wife 16 times in November 2021 in his apartment in Innsbruck with a kitchen knife during an argument. Now he filed his appeal with the Higher Regional Court. As the jury unanimously decided in September last year, the Kosovar must remain in prison for life.
“We are here today because I caused trouble,” the Kosovar said dryly at the appeal hearing before the Higher Regional Court in Innsbruck on Tuesday. As with the main jury trial last year, there was little empathy for the victim.
On a November morning in 2021, the unemployed pizza chef brutally stabbed his wife (50) in his apartment in Innsbruck no less than 16 times with a 20 centimeter long knife and then left her alone in agony.
Weeks of humiliation
The couple quarreled over a little thing at breakfast: because his wife wanted him to eat soup, the man, who suffered from depression, got completely upset and stabbed. For weeks, the 50-year-old allegedly humiliated him repeatedly.
Given the large number of stab wounds and the agonizing death, the Supreme Court saw no reason to reduce the sentence. It was therefore imprisoned for life.
