The Kremlin said on Wednesday, following the cessation of Russian gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria, that supplies to other countries would also be interrupted if they new payment mechanism in rubles
“As the payment deadline approaches and if consumers reject the new payment system, the presidential decree will be implemented,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov said at his daily press conference.
Russia today issued the harshest response to the… sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU), which has stopped gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria because these two states failed to pay their April gas bill in rubles. The two governments, for their part, have remained calm.
Today, Hungary is the only state in the European Union to pay Russia for gas in rubles, but so far Russia has only punished those two countries.
