At the beginning of February, a man (42) reported a robbery to a police inspection in Vienna. In fact, he was allegedly beaten and tied up by several men. Now it turned out that the incident was only fabricated.
It was around 10:15 a.m. on February 4 when the 42-year-old reported the robbery in Vienna-Favoriten to the Sedlitzkygasse police station. Men masked with FFP2 masks allegedly beat the victim. One of the perpetrators is said to have even shown a police identity card.
The men then handcuffed the victim and stole his wallet. The perpetrators then released the handcuffs and fled.
Display on suspicion of false testimony
The man was questioned again on Tuesday about the incident. After some questions from the police, the 42-year-old admitted to making up the robbery. He is now reported to the criminal investigation department on suspicion of giving false testimony and committing a criminal offense.
