After six days of negotiations during today’s final of the nursing home trial on continued violence, torture and sexual abuse at the regional court in St. Pölten, there were three partially suspended prison sentences and one acquittal.
The hearing lasted six days and more than 100 witnesses were heard during the investigation. In the trial against four former employees of the nursing home in Sitzenberg-Reidling in the Tulln district, the verdicts have now been passed: three partial prison sentences and one acquittal.
The 46-year-old first defendant had 30 months, 20 of which were suspended. The 36-year-old was sentenced to 24 months, 16 of which were suspended. The 33-year-old was given 21 months, 14 of which were suspended. The 39-year-old was acquitted. Not legally binding. The suspect had denied the allegations.
self-administered medication
The suspect, aged between 33 and 46, had to answer in court from March 2020 to March 2021 for, among other things, persistent violence, torment and neglect of the defenseless and sexual abuse. Three of the defendants were found guilty of administering heavy narcotics to residents without a medical indication. The accusation of sexual abuse was acquitted in doubt.
Healthcare scandal in SeneCura not an isolated case
A similar case was already pending in 2021 at the LG St. Pölten. At that time, too, four nurses allegedly beat, insulted and tormented residents of the Kirchstetten home (Lower Austria). The Supreme Court has now partly overturned these judgments due to “defective implementation of the judgment”.
