Arrested in Lower Austria – young woman (23) led extreme right-wing chat groups

In Lower Austria, an operator of a National Socialist chat group was tracked down. The 23-year-old German citizen is suspected of reactivation. She would also be in possession of illegal weapons. This was the result of the investigations by the Directorate for State Security and Intelligence (DSN) and the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Fight against Terrorism in Lower Austria (LVT).

The 23-year-old woman, who has been living in Austria since the summer of 2022, is said to have set up and operated several National Socialist chat groups on various online platforms. According to the DSN, these chat groups shared extreme right-wing views and National Socialist propaganda. In addition, the young woman had expressed ideas of attack inspired by the right.

Pistol and Nazi-related clothing seized
The suspect was arrested on January 31 as part of a covert investigation by the DSN and the LVT Lower Austria with the support of the EKO Cobra and then taken to prison, as announced on Sunday. As a result, pre-trial detention was imposed. At the time of the arrests, house searches were carried out at two locations – various data carriers, a gun including ammunition and items of clothing with a Nazi connection were seized there.

Residence ban, investigation continues
On March 15, the 23-year-old was released – she was deported to Germany. The woman received a residence ban for Austria. However, the investigations have not yet been completed.
