Operation Martyrdom – How Trump Made Money From His Trial

Date:

Donald Trump faces five criminal and two civil charges. Does that bury his political ambitions? A shower of money and the recent popularity figures suggest the opposite.

Donald Trump is back where he feels most comfortable: in the absolute spotlight. Trump on Tuesday became the first US president in history to sit in a dock. In New York, he has been charged with accounting fraud in 34 counts. At the heart of the charges are “silent payments” to porn actress Stormy Daniels. Hush money also allegedly flowed to an ex-Playboy model and a former bouncer at Trump Tower who claimed to know about Trump’s illegitimate child.

The 45th president of the US faces additional legal challenges in four other criminal cases and two civil cases.

Is your political career over now? Not at all! Trump is just warming up. Just a few hours after his trial, he takes the stage at his pompous property in Palm Beach, Florida – basking in the applause of his fans to the song “God bless the USA.”

Trump sees himself in every sense as a victim of justice, which is now counterattacking. Known rhetoric included. In reality, his opponents would be targeting his voters, Trump trumpeted at his golf club.

In his speech, for example, he raged against New York judge Juan Merchan. In court, he called on the prosecution and Trump to “keep the ball flat.” However, the ex-president was not in the mood for de-escalation: “I have a Trump-hating judge, with a Trump-hating wife and family whose daughter worked for Kamala Harris.”

In fact, Merchan’s daughter, Loren, is a partner at a digital campaign strategy firm that has worked for many prominent Democrats.

Trump downplays other procedures
Trump addressed several other cases against him, including the investigation into his attempt to influence Georgia’s election.

“There’s a racist, Democratic district attorney in Atlanta who’s doing everything he can to charge me with an absolutely perfect phone call,” he ranted. In his 2020 “perfect call” the ex-president was recorded urging Republicans to reverse the election results.

Trump also widely denounced the investigation into his handling of classified material at Mar-a-Lago. He was also under investigation for “the Espionage Act of 1917, which carries the death penalty,” he said.

He called the lead investigator a “maniac” and complained, “Our justice system has become lawless. They are now using it – alongside everything else – to win elections.”

Millions of rain for Trump
win elections? That’s exactly what he could do now. Since the indictment became known, Trump’s popularity ratings have skyrocketed in polls. According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released Monday, 48 percent of Republicans now want to vote for him, up from 44 percent in March. His internal party opponent, Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, fell to 19 percentage points.

Financially, too, the ex-president’s new permanent presence seems to be paying off. In the past seven days, Trump has raised more than $8 million in campaign donations, his campaign team said. In comparison, Trump’s misconduct generated more in a few days than the parties in the Lower Austrian state election campaign were allowed to spend.

The indictment itself also plays into the hands of the ex-president. Of all pending criminal cases, this one is considered the weakest. The US legal bubble raged when the indictment became known.

And the direction in which the 2024 election campaign should go is shown by the latest product in Trump’s online shop: a plain white T-shirt with a clearly fake photo of the former president, which is based on a mug shot. Below that it reads in block letters: “NOT GUILTY!” Full speed ahead towards martyrdom.

If you transfer 47 euros or more, the shirt will be sent to you ‘free’. And that Trump is serious about his candidacy should now be clear to even the last doubters. “Number 45” wants to become “Number 47”.
