Four-time Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is being treated for leukemia at the San Raffaele clinic in Milan, where he was admitted on Wednesday.
The clinical condition was complicated by pneumonia. Berlusconi’s condition, who was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital, was “stable”, according to the Milan daily “Corriere della Sera”, referring to circles around the media mogul.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wished the boss of Forza Italia a speedy recovery. “Forza Silvio,” she tweeted.
“Silvio, Italy is waiting for you!” wrote Lega boss and transport minister Matteo Salvini on Facebook. He posted a photo showing him with Berlusconi.
GThe whole family visited Berlusconi in hospital
All five of Berlusconi’s children, his brother Paolo and his partner Marta Fascina visited the leader of the ruling Forza Italia party in hospital. His personal physician Alberto Zangrillo is expected to publish a medical bulletin on the patient’s situation on Thursday, Italian media reported. Berlusconi spent four days in hospital last week.
Berlusconi has been plagued by health problems for years. The multimillionaire underwent open-heart surgery in 2016 and 2019 for a bowel obstruction. In April 2021 he was in hospital for more than three weeks due to the consequences of a Covid 19 infection he had contracted in 2020.
