This year the long Easter weekend is literally falling through. The cold front brings cloudy and unstable weather, especially in the eastern half of Austria – including showers and sometimes snow. The sun only occasionally returns on Easter Monday.
The cold front already crossed Austria on Holy Saturday and brought heavy rain showers and a maximum of 12 degrees in many states. The low “Norbert” over Eastern Europe was stationed over Easter weekend as a high-altitude low just southeast of the Alpine Republic. Ice also formed on the Bisamberg, for example, after the snow line was usually between 700 and 1200 m from east to west.
Ben Easter Sunday then it remains cloudy and cool. In the east, searching for Easter nests outdoors can become particularly difficult, as heavy downpours are expected during the day. Even isolated snowfall cannot be ruled out. Only from Vorarlberg via the Tyrolean Oberland to East Tyrol are some sunny spots to be seen, where it also remains largely dry. The temperatures are between 6 and 13 degrees.
It is getting warmer and especially sunnier Easter Monday throughout Austria. A few showers are expected in the morning only in the Waldviertel to Styria. In the rest of the states, the day started well with lots of sun. During the day, the sun will prevail, especially in the east. With only a weak wind, temperatures rise again and rise to 17 degrees.
