Two siblings were found dead on Easter Sunday in an apartment in Hockenheim, Baden-Württemberg. The children were seven and nine years old, the public prosecutor’s office and police headquarters in Mannheim announced in the evening. A 43-year-old “relative” was arrested on suspicion of murder on the spot.
A police spokesman would not say what relationship she had with the children – whether it was the mother.
According to him, an autopsy will be performed on the bodies of the siblings on Tuesday. No further details are known about the children.
Investigators are still covered
The statement said that the Mannheim Public Prosecutor’s Office and the capital crimes department of the Mannheim Criminal Investigation Department have launched further investigations into the 43-year-old. The central forensic science department of the Heidelberg Criminal Investigation Department and the Institute for Forensic Medicine at the University of Heidelberg are also involved.
The detectives initially did not release any further information about the alleged murder in Hockenheim (Rhein-Neckar district) on Easter Sunday.
