Shot fired in a Friday morning robbery in a bank foyer in Vienna’s Favoriten district: two employees of a cash-in-transit company fell victim to an armed robber, at least one of the two was injured. The robber escaped.
At the time of the robbery around 8:20 am, the two money transporters were just changing the ATMs. “The previously unknown perpetrator allegedly threatened the two with a handgun. The man fired at least one shot,” says police spokesman Markus Dittrich. A robbery victim “was believed to have been injured by the gunshot to the ear canal.”
The robber took off with the money on a scooter, while fleeing he allegedly threatened a passerby with a gun.
The perpetrator fled with a pink wool cap
The wanted person would have been 30 to 40 years old, 1.70 to 1.75 meters tall and wore a mouth and nose protector. According to the witnesses, the otherwise dark-clad robber wore a pink wool cap and spoke Viennese dialect.
“An immediate search with a large contingent of emergency services has not been successful so far,” says Dittrich. “The Viennese detective has taken over the investigation.”
