Night owls made an unusual discovery on Saturday night in the putti fountain in the Erzherzog-Johann Park right in the center of Klagenfurt. They saw two sea turtles.
In Carinthia it happens time and time again that pet owners simply abandon their animals. A stranger may have thought he could just release his turtles into a fountain in Klagenfurt.
Discovered by night owls
But the two reptiles were discovered by passers-by on the night from Saturday to Sunday in the putti fountain, which is right next to the parish church. They dutifully called the police immediately. “We immediately picked up the animals,” an employee of the animal rescue service of the animal knowledge center in Klagenfurt told the “Krone”.

“The two turtles look fit and healthy,” says the animal rescue worker. On Sunday afternoon, the animals will be picked up by reptile expert Helga Happ and examined further.
