This lead foot will now walk more. At 197 km/h, a man from Salzburg raced on the A1 near Allhaming (Upper Austria). His bad luck: a civilian police officer clung to his tires.
It was around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday when a civilian patrol from the National Traffic Service on the A1 Westautobahn towards Vienna noticed a BMW X1 driving towards Vienna at too high a speed and with unsafe driving behaviour.
197 instead of 100
When tracking with a calibrated speedometer with video recording, the driver was measured at average speeds of 195 km/h with a permitted 130 km/h and 197 km/h with a permitted 100 km/h.
The 44-year-old driver from Salzburg was stopped at the Traun exit. His driver’s license has been provisionally taken away from him on the spot and he will file a report. He could give no reason for his anger. But he assured that he would get better.
