Euskaltel expects to return to positive results following customer growth

Last year, the telecommunications company added 14,000 broadband customers and 35,000 mobile customers, an increase of about 5% and 6% respectively.

Euskaltel hopes to have again positive results in 2023 after managing to expand its customer portfolio in 2022, a break in trend achieved by the Basque company, which belongs to the MásMóvil group, by simplifying the offer and improving the loyalty and satisfaction of its users.

The director of Euskaltel, Jon Ander de las Fuentes, presented this Tuesday in Zamudio the balance sheet of the company’s activities in the Basque Country and Navarra in 2022 and also spoke about the prospects for this year, when the telecommunications company has managed to the best quarter since 2014 although it is still “a long way” from the revenues and profitability of three years ago.

According to the data provided, Euskaltel achieved service revenues of EUR 630 million last year, 3% less than in 2021and Ebitda of 321 million, up 4%, as explained by De las Fuentes.

As for the number of customers, the company already managed to grow and add in 2022 14,000 more on broadband and 35,000 more on mobilerepresenting increases of approximately 5% and 6% respectively.

Asked about the merger between MásMóvil and Orange that the European Commission is studying and its possible incidence in Euskaltel, De las Fuentes replied that they are not very concerned at the local level because there is no duplication in structures.

He has also said that they are clear about the behavior and products each of the brands sell and has assured that the problem is who “continue to manage complementarity as best we can”.

In addition, supported the merger with Orange due to the need for telecommunications groups to be large enough to facilitate the services requested by customers.
