Former mercenary of the notorious Wagner group Georgi Siukajew allegedly murdered another man immediately after being pardoned in his old homeland of South Ossetia.
As the Res news agency reports, on the evening of April 17, Soslan Valiyev, 38, was stabbed to death in the town of Tskhinvali in the disputed Republic of South Ossetia, which is only recognized by a few states. Valiyev was very popular among the townspeople.
Former South Ossetian president Eduard Kokoity described him as a very “kind and nice young man who, with a few exceptions, was loved by all as if he were family”. According to media reports, ex-Wagner fighter Siukajew recently returned from the war in Ukraine. He had joined the group of mercenaries in prison. The man was convicted of murder in 2014.
Prigozhin convinced of the “curative effect” of the war effort
The head of the Wagner group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has already responded to the horror reports. He assured that he wanted to investigate the allegations against Siukajew and showed no insight. Since working for the mercenary group, according to him, has a kind of “curative effect” – the chance that the prisoners will commit crimes again after deployment to the front increased tenfold, Putin’s cook was convinced.
Prigozhin does not appear to be a great expert on the human psyche. Some very dangerous prisoners were recruited into the war, and then they committed unimaginable atrocities day after day for six months. After that they are free men again without any therapy and, traumatized by the war, they are released on the population without any precaution. The consequences are sometimes fatal.
Ex-Wagner mercenaries wanted to slaughter the entire village
It wasn’t until late March that a returning Wagner mercenary terrified an entire Russian village. Constantly drunk, he walked through the village with a pitchfork and an ax shouting, “I’ll kill everyone, I’ll slaughter the whole family.” This went on until he finally killed an old woman – also with a knife. At first they wanted to send him back to Ukraine, but that never happened: he is now back in prison for murder.
