In the night from Friday to Friday, there was an increased concentration of carbon monoxide in an apartment in Vienna-Favoriten. At the same time, a family of four was present in the house. All four suffered from CO poisoning.
At around 1 a.m., emergency services were called to the Per-Albin-Hansson settlement. The mother had been in the bathroom and complained of a sudden headache. She immediately alerted the emergency services. The rescuers registered far too much carbon monoxide concentration, Steiner explained.
No danger to life
“Then we discovered that the gas combi boiler was not working properly,” added Bernhard Platzer of Vienna’s professional fire service. Mother and father, each 32 years old, and the four- and eight-year-old girls were taken to hospital by the alerted rescuers. There was no danger to life.
The people were mainly taken to a hospital for a check-up, reports Daniel Steiner, spokesman for the Viennese professional rescue service.
