Shock for the residents of a family home in Enns. A fire broke out in a children’s room. Although the fire was quickly extinguished, material damage amounted to several hundred thousand euros.
Presumably due to a technical defect, a fire broke out in the children’s room of a single-family home in Enns in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Although this was confined to the room, the entire upper floor was affected by the smoke from the fire. None of the home’s occupants were in danger because they were not in the home when the fire broke out. The Enns fire brigade quickly had the fire under control.
Technical defect as the reason
Around 2 p.m., the cause of the fire was determined by a fire expert from the Upper Austrian fire prevention service and the district fire investigator. Arson can be ruled out with a probability bordering on certainty. Based on the reports and error messages from the fire alarm system in the building, the fire probably broke out shortly after midnight and spread only very slowly due to a lack of oxygen. The cause of the fire is probably a technical/electrical defect in or in the vicinity of the terrarium. Although the fire was confined to the children’s room, the heavy smoke development on the entire top floor caused considerable material damage.
