After the murder of a 20-year-old guard at Epiphany in the barracks of Wiener Neustadt airport, the investigation was stopped. The competent public prosecutor sees the scenario of self-defense put forward by the 54-year-old suspect confirmed, according to spokeswoman Silke Pernsteiner. So it wasn’t murder.

Pernsteiner emphasized that the stance was essentially based on the findings of a Federal Criminal Investigation Department gunshot report as well as statements by the officer on duty.

“There was no evidence to the contrary”

Soldier was drugged
According to a toxicology report, the 20-year-old used cannabis, ecstasy and antidepressants in the weeks leading up to Epiphany. On the morning of January 6, he would not have been bothered by the low concentration.
