A family photo with all his children could be difficult for 41-year-old Dutchman Jonathan Jacob Meijer – he is said to have fathered more than 550 children through sperm donation. A court has now prevented there from being any more – in urgent proceedings. The man now faces a hefty fine.
Meijer was blacklisted in 2017 by the Dutch Association for Obstetrics and Gynecology. In that time, the musician is said to have fathered 102 children in ten different fertility clinics.
But the Dutchman did not stop at the donations: he then went abroad, for example to Denmark or the Ukraine. He also offered his seed on various websites and social media.
Another donation costs him 100,000 euros
In his home country, however, it finally became too colorful for a dish. After having 550 children in total, he is no longer allowed to donate sperm – if he violates this, he risks a fine of 100,000 euros.
The process was started by a woman who, together with a foundation, had a child from Meijer. Because the Dutchman also offered his services after the indictment, the court now decided in urgent proceedings.
Man lied about number of children fathered
The prosecution had previously met the man on the internet – there he had allegedly lied about the number of children he had fathered. He therefore stated that he was the father of a maximum of 25 children in twelve families. More is not allowed in the Netherlands to prevent incest by too many half-siblings.
